Best Practice 01

1.Title of the Practice 

Greenary of the campus

2.  Objectives: 

  • To obtain green cover around the campus
  • To encourage students for tree plantation
  • Create awareness among students for environment 

3.  Context

According to National Forest Policy 1988, minimum of one third of total land area of the country should be under forest or tree cover. Therfore the institution aims to cover its one third area under tree cover. Some trees were from the begining of the establishment of the college. for obtaining the aim of green campus the NSS, NCC and Ecoclub unit takes vaious initiatives of plantation at times. 

4. The Practice: 

  • The plantation programmes are organized by NSS, NCC and Ecolub during rainy season for better establishment of plants. 
  • Plants taken as environment studies project are also planted in the campus.
  • Prcticals of Deparment of Forestry also includes planting, nursery management etc.
  • The plants planted are managed by the NSS, NCC and ECOCLUB unit to ensure their establishment. 

5. Evidences: 

  • Visible Greenary in the campus.
  • District Green Champion Award from MGNCRE- MoE-GOI.
  • Increased awareness among students for environment and tree plantation.

6. Problems Encountered:

  •  During examinations and summer vacation lack of human resource to take care of plants.
  • Lack of proper watering facilities.
  • Two year Pandemic Condition was the major problem for the maintenance of the plants as neither students nor the staff was available for taking proper care of the plants.

Best Practice 02

Title of the Practice 

"Promotion of Sports"

2.  Objectives: 

  • To inspire and empower young students towards sports.
  • To encourage students for healthy and fit body.
  • To create a positive self-esteem in young generation.
  • To nurture confidence, teamwork, social skills and deal with setbacks.

3.  Context

“Physical toughness and mental health are both improved by participating in sports” Sports is always an essential component of education. A sport is not only our co curricular activity but it boosts the youth and generates values and skills in students. A sport is a good tool for community outreach and helps to facilitate socio-economic development of our state and nation.

4. The Practice: 

  • The college has a separate sports room and has an Assistant Professor In charge.
  • The sports room also has an Indoor Gym and an Indoor Badminton Court.
  • Due to space constraint College share’s its Playground with district administration.
  • College has female participants taking part in state level events.
  • The institution gave state and sector level player in last five years.

5. Evidences: 

  • In 2017-18, 07 players from college participated in 03 events (Football, Volleyball and Athletics) at state level.
  • In 2018-19, 07 players in 04 events (Football, Volleyball, Cricket and Kabbadi) participated at state level.
  • In 2019-20, 14 players in 08 events participated at state level. Of these 14 players 05 were female participants.
  • In 2021-22 we gave 73 Sector level players and 18 female participants out of 73 players.

6. Problems Encountered:

  • Funds are inadequate for organizing sports activities with proper infrastructure and multifunctional amenities.
  • College does not have Regular Sports Officer
  • The college does not have its own space to organize and practice sports activities in its own campus.
